Kyoto Street, 2020
Media: Acrylic
This project originates from a captivating moment captured during my travels in Japan, set against the backdrop of a rainy day. The sky, cloaked in darkness, cast a dramatic atmosphere over the landscape, while the rain-kissed ground revealed a mesmerizing reflection, imbued with the interplay of light and shadow. It felt akin to stepping into a scene from a cinematic masterpiece.
Amidst this atmospheric setting, the buildings exuded a profound sense of Japanese tradition and heritage, their architectural details resonating with cultural richness. Inspired by this evocative scene, I chose to express its depth and complexity through the medium of acrylic paint.
The application of acrylic allowed me to capture the nuances of light and shadow, infusing the scene with a dynamic energy that mirrors the ambiance of that rainy day in Japan. Each brushstroke served as a conduit for translating the essence of the moment onto the canvas, preserving its emotional resonance and visual allure.
